I’m so pleased to be a recommended Allerton Castle Wedding photographer as it is one of my favourite North Yorkshire wedding venues. It was great to be back at this unique gothic castle for Holly and Rebecca’s fabulous big day. This castle is a grade 1 listed, 18th century stately home set in rolling North Yorkshire countryside. It has extensive grounds with woodland, a lake and its own Victorian folly known a the temple of Victory. The folly is a great place to take wedding couples for views of the castle and miles of countryside surrounding it, which is something we did on Holly and Rebeccas’s day despite the rain!

I arrived to meet the couple getting ready in two separate bridal suites on the first floor of the castle. They were both in fantastic spirits and despite the not so fabulous weather, they were excited for the day ahead. Whilst they both got ready I hopped between the two rooms with my camera capturing them and their bridesmaids busying about, opening bottles of Prosecco and generally having a lovely and relaxed time. They also both opened lovely hand written letters which they had received from each other, which caused many smiles and not a few happy tears. When the girls were ready they both arranged first looks with their Dad’s and bridesmaids, who were all suitable surprised and impressed with how lovely the brides looked. They both had beautiful white dresses with lace detail from Ava Rose Hamilton and they looked absolutely stunning.

Soon it was time for the ceremony and this involved a very long bridal party train descending the magnificent staircase of Allerton Castle followed by both brides. Holly went down first with her Dad and waited to meet Rebecca as she also walked with her Dad up the aisle to join her. They both looked so happy and quite emotional to see each other. The ceremony went without a hitch with some lovely readings and a few tears in the audience. The brides then walked down the aisle and back up the grand staircase to much applause.

After much in the way of congratulations and a few canapés and drinks we took the opportunity of a break in the rain to get into the landcover for the five minute drive up to the folly. The couple had really wanted to go to this location for some photography as it affords such brilliant views of Allerton Castle and the surrounding countryside. I enjoyed taking some lovely shots of them walking around the area in front of the views and hanging out on the folly balcony. I also took some extra images of them walking down the Allerton Castle driveway and inside the building on the grand staircase, this is always a shot that cannot be missed!

Next it was time for the wedding breakfast and speeches and Holly and Rebecca walked into the ballroom to much celebration. The speeches were all fabulous being both funny and very emotional, you could tell there was a lot of love in the room of this wedding couple. After dinner, I took the opportunity to take a few evening images of Holly and Rebecca on the castle interior balcony. This is always a spectacular spot for wedding photography showing so much of the striking architecture and beautiful lighting in this venue. Finally it was time for the couple’s first dance and they did a fantastic job of whisking each other around the dance floor before many of the guests joined them to rock the night away. Before I left for the evening we organised a sparkler tunnel outside the front door of the castle and the guests thoroughly enjoyed giving Holly and Rebecca a sparkler send off!

This was a fabulous wedding day with a lovely couple at an absolutely stunning venue. Kirsty photographed our wedding and we could not have been happier with the entre experience from first booking with her to receiving the pictures. She was able to adapt on the spot to exactly what we wanted, from standing outside on top of a hill in 6 degree weather to taking our couple portraits to capturing every smile and emotion of our guests. We received our photos less than four weeks after the ceremony too which was fantastic. We cannot say enough good things about Kirsty, we will definitely be using her again in the future!
