A Stunning Lake District Wedding at Askham Hall
I was so pleased to get the chance for some Askham Hall wedding photography. Rosie and Mathieu decide to get hitched at the stunning Askham Hall, one of the Lake District’s finest wedding venues. A country house in Askham, Cumbria with grade II listed gardens and a Michelle star restaurant. The venue also has a stunning converted barn for wedding receptions. If you are looking for rustic barn reception next to a gorgeous country house this is the perfect Cumbria wedding venue. This was a multicultural wedding with Rosie’s family hailing from Yorkshire and Mathieu’s family from France.
It was a beautiful day with sunshine from start to finish. Rosie got ready in the bridal suite with many bridesmaids and flower girls who were all excited for the big day ahead. She looked stunning as she walked, with her Dad, down the sweeping staircase, through the gardens and out to St Peter’s church just a few yards from the venue.
A Cumbrian Church Wedding Ceremony
The ceremony went without a hitch and it was so nice that the couple were able to have heir little boy Oliver with them for a few moments at the alter. Afterwards there were drinks and canapés in the gorgeous gardens followed by a few family group shots. I then whisked the couple off for a 20 min stroll around the gardens for some couple portraits. This wedding venue certainly offered plenty of stunning backdrops for wedding photography.
A rustic wedding barn for the reception
Finally it was time for the guests to pile into the gorgeous rustic wedding barn for the wedding reception. Rosie and Mathieu had made a huge effort to dress their tables so beautifully. With flowers, candles, home-made wedding favours and rustic wedding signs. Also the fairy lights provided a lovely atmosphere. The couple had an incredible wedding cheese cake designed from cheeses that Mathieu’s family had brought over from France. The couple cut the cake to much applause.
The speeches went really well and kept the guests thoroughly entertained. The couple continued into the evening with a fabulous first dance. They definitely had a few dance moves going on as Mathieu whisked Rosie around the dance floor.
All in all this was a fabulous Lake District wedding in a stunning countryside wedding venue. Thank you so much to Rosie and Mathieu for choosing me for your Askham Hall, Lake District wedding photography. Congratulations on a fabulous day and all the best for your future lives together.
