From the moment I arrived at Burtonfields Hall for Lacey and Matt’s wedding I knew it was going to be something special. The sun was already shining brightly over the grounds, giving us that perfect golden summer light that makes such a difference to the photography. I headed straight to the preparation room to find the girls, and what a scene greeted me! Prosecco pouring, and laughter filling the space. The whole atmosphere was relaxed, joyful, and fizzing with excitement. Once the girls were ready they had a celebratory toast and a few groups photos. Lacey looked effortlessly elegant in a beautiful white jumpsuit, such a chic and modern choice for a wedding at this stunning Yorkshire wedding venue.
Their ceremony inside the house was very beautiful and perfectly suited to an indoor wedding ceremony at Burtonfields Hall. Soft natural light streamed through the windows, wrapping around them as they exchanged vows. There was a warmth in the room that had nothing to do with the weather; heartfelt smiles, happy tears, and that unmistakable buzz when two people are exactly where they’re meant to be. Afterwards, we stepped outside into sunshine for a very long confetti tunnel. Petals flew, guests cheered, and Lacey and Matt beamed the entire way through.
The drinks reception unfolded on the lawns, showcasing exactly why a summer wedding at Burtonfields Hall is so special. Fabulously fun lawn games kept everyone entertained, and laughter echoed across the gardens. We stole away for a relaxed stroll around the beautiful grounds for some natural, romantic portraits. The gardens at Burtonfields Hall offer the perfect backdrop for timeless wedding photography, sweeping greenery, and that dreamy Yorkshire light. Those quieter moments between the celebrations are always some of my favourites to capture.
And then came the moment. The now legendary giant bottle of champagne. With everyone gathered around on the terrace, Matt confidently took hold of it, and in a split second it slipped from his hands, hit the ground, and launched a powerful jet of champagne straight into his face. Guests dived for cover, Lacey shrieked and leapt backwards, and Matt stood there absolutely soaked from head to toe. It was chaotic, hilarious, and completely unforgettable, the kind of spontaneous moment that makes wedding photography so much fun. Matt took it all in his stride while the entire party dissolved into fits of laughter. I was clicking away, knowing we had just captured a truly unique story from their big day.
Matt had a little time to dry his suit with a hair dryer! before the guests took their seats fro dinner. The speeches continued the perfect balance of humour and heart, genuinely funny stories mixed with emotional words that had everyone raising their glasses (a little more cautiously this time). As the evening approached, Lacey made a stunning transformation, changing into a gorgeous mini wedding dress adorned with delicate white flowers. It was playful, stylish, and absolutely perfect for the party ahead at this incredible York wedding venue.
Their first dance was a showstopper. Matt whisked his bride around the dance floor with such energy and joy. Then the dance floor opened, and guests piled in for some wonderfully raucous, wild dance moves. The party truly came alive, and the celebration carried on in full swing; the perfect ending to an unforgettable wedding at Burtonfields Hall.
Sunshine all day, heartfelt vows, lawn games in the gardens, a champagne explosion for the history books, and a packed dance floor; Lacey and Matt’s Burtonfields Hall wedding had everything. Days like this are exactly why I love photographing weddings and why it remains one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues.
