We had a sunny and slightly blustery day for this lovely intimate wedding at Markenfield Hall near Ripon in North Yorkshire. Abi and Jos and their close family and friends came together for an amazing wedding celebration at this stunning old 14th century moated manor house. This really is a unique building, a very romantic house with medieval battlements, a private chapel and beautiful gardens offering stunning areas for the photography. They even have a pair of resident black swans! Abi and her mum and sister Jessica got ready in the four poster bridal suite with Jessica taking care of hair and makeup. There was a great deal of fun, laughter and a few tears, especially when the family including Abi’s Dad got to see Abi fully dressed and looking stunning in her Anna Sorrano wedding gown.

The ceremony went really well but was not without one slight hitch! Jos got the ring stuck on the ring cushion, ripping the ribbon off the cushion but leaving it still on the ring. They had to get someone to fetch scissors in the middle of the ceremony to everyones amusement but Jos took it in his stride and cracked a few jokes! Apparently, so Abi tells me, Jos also tried to convince her to have the Jurassic Park theme as the entrance music. She compromised by agreeing to put it on whilst signing the register. However, they ended up with it as their walking out music, which now explains why I have pictures of then bursting with laughter as they walked down the aisle!

After the ceremony the guests congregated in the entrance hall for canapés and we popped in and out of the building for group shots in between the wind gusts! Next it was time for the couple portraits and I must say we were spoilt for choice with the scenery. The medieval architecture both inside and outside the building was a perfect backdrop to the wedding pictures and a walk around the gardens gave us stunning views of the hall. Abi also did an amazing job withstanding the gusts of chilly wind.

Finally we head back to the entrance hall for some more mingling then it was time to leave for the reception venue. The couple hopped into their vintage Rolls Royce and drove off to the General Tarleton near Knaresborough, where they had booked a room for an intimate family candle lit diner. There were three excellent speeches which were moving but also very funny, then I left  for the night as the guests tucked in to a delicious dinner.
