I’m so pleased to be a recommended Orangery at Settrington wedding photographer as it is one of my favourite Yorkshire wedding venues. It just oozes charm and elegance and is located in such a beautiful North Yorkshire countryside setting. It’s a very intimate venue but one of the largest in Yorkshire accommodating up to 150 guests. I love the extensive private gardens and the the stunning lake outside the venue gates which provide fantastic natural backdrops for photography. The Estate also includes the beautiful All Saints church which sits alongside the Orangery.
Poppy and Ed had an absolutely perfect sunny wedding day. I arrived on site to the cosy cottage where the bride and bridesmaids were getting ready and Poppy and her family and bridesmaids were all in fantastic spirits. Meanwhile Ed was getting ready with his groomsmen at The Old Lodge in Malton where he was met by my second photographer. This was a black tie wedding which was very appropriate for such an elegant venue and Ed and his groomsmen looked very smart in their suits.
Poppy and the girls had a lovely time at the cottage getting ready, chatting and spending some time in the sunny garden. The bridesmaids looked lovely in their mint green elegant dresses and Poppy looked absolutely stunning in her Madi Lane dress with beautiful intricate lace detail. Once they were ready to go they took the 50 yard journey over the road to the church. All Saint’s church is a beautiful Grade II listed building set in the tranquil surroundings and lush greenery of the Settrington Estate. Ed was greeting the guests as they gathered outside and then everyone started to be ushered into the building.
The ceremony went without a hitch and there were some lovely readings. After saying their vows and exchanging rings the couple had their first kiss at the top of the aisle. This was quickly followed by celebrations as the couple walked down the aisle to much applause. The guests quickly exited the church grabbing handfuls of confetti and Poppy & Ed were bombarded as they made their way through the confetti tunnel. This ceremony was simply such a joyous occasion and so lovely to photograph.
The rest of the day was spent at the Orangery, the guests wiled away their time munching on canapés having fun chats and wandering around the gardens. Poppy and Ed wanted to spend a little time themselves exploring the grounds so we took a walk around the estate and over to the lake just outside the venue gates. I was amazed to see such beautiful fields next to the lake absolutely brimming with buttercups. This was pure photo gold! I took several photographs of the couple wandering along the edge of the lake through these beautiful fields of flowers.
Soon it was time for the wedding breakfast and poppy and Ed entered the room to much celebration and waving of napkins! The speeches were fantastic with a lot of interaction from the guests. I particularly enjoyed the Welsh crowd’s enthusiastic flag waving and Ed’s Mum’s hilarious speech. After dinner, the guests spent more time outside in the lovely evening light and I took a few photographs of the couple by the fountain as the sun started to set. The couple ended their day back in the Orangery with a fabulous first dance and then the guests flooded the dance floor with much energy and enthusiasm. All in all this was an absolutely fabulous wedding. The day had such a friendly and joyful atmosphere and I loved every minute of it. I can’t wait to be back at the Orangery next year for another beautiful wedding day.
