I was so pleased when Chloe and Callum choose me as their Tanfield House wedding photographer. This is a stunning venue set on the banks of a river near Ripon in North Yorkshire. Tanfield house is run by Riverside Events and is a very personal venue for the couple. Chloe had grown up kayaking past the venue many times seeing the water high and low with family paddling alongside. The location allowed for a very intimate experience and the couple really went all out with a DIY wedding. They found the venue really matched their style being relaxed, yet elegant and classic.
They are a very creative family and with Chloe’s line of work they were able to create a lot of the clothes and decorations for the day. Chloe and Callum told me that they sat for good few nights and discussed exactly what they wanted from the day and then went ahead to design and plan this. Chloe and her Mum and bridesmaid amazingly made all of the dresses, which were absolutely stunning! Chloe also spent a year sourcing silk flowers and spent many fun hours making garlands, bouquets, buttonholes and head pieces in advance of the big day. I was so impressed ! Also a lovely touch was that the hairpiece that Chloe wore was the one her mum wore on her own wedding day.
The ceremony was very moving with lots of laughter and a few tears all around. The little flower girl did an amazing job throughout the day including walking down the aisle in front of Chloe and her Dad. Also Chloe’s nephew Riley was the perfect gentleman handing over the rings to the couple during the ceremony.
A stunning feature of this day was the Bugatti Teal, an amazing classic car that the couple had borrowed from Callum’s grandparents. Using this car for the couple portraits and watching the children play in it was certainly a highlight of the wedding.
I was also very impressed with Chloe and Callum’s first dance. Chloe mentioned that the music they chose was very personal having spent most evenings dancing around the kitchen together their first dance wasn’t a difficult choice. They had loads of fun dancing to it very naturally like they are used to. She also told me that at the end of the evening, marking the end of a beautiful day, they went down by the riverside for one final romantic moment. They fell asleep by the river and Allanah who owns and runs Tanfield House said it was like something from a novel!
This was the kind of wedding I really love to photograph. A wonderfully friendly atmosphere with lots and lots of personal touches and shared stories. You could just tell that Chloe and Callum are true soul mates and I wish all the best for their future together.
