Haylie and Thomas had a fabulous wedding day at The Normans wedding venue close to York, just outside the village of Bilbrough. It was a late October wedding and they were so lucky to get beautiful sunshine all day and some striking autumn colours. I arrived to meet Haylie and her family/ friends in the onsite cottage. Thomas was also getting ready in one of the barn apartments next door.
This North Yorkshire wedding venue has a lovely rustic charm but with modern elegant touches. It’s an 18th century farm venue with very cool lighting and design. Curtains of fairy lights adorn the walls of both the ceremony room and the reception hall resulting in very enchanting spaces in which to tie the knot and celebrate the day. It’s a fabulous venue to photograph with all the romantic twinkly lights as a backdrop to the proceedings and I love the high vaulted ceilings and exposed brick walls. The wedding couple had adorned the barn with rustic signs, candles, dried flowers and black and white family photographs. They had a lovely crowd of very supportive family and friends and you could tell there was a lot of love on the air.
A romantic wedding ceremony at the Normans Barn
The ceremony took place in the barn, surrounded by the vibrant colours of amber and gold, and creating an enchanting setting for the exchange of vows. Haylie looked radiant in her very elegant white gown, which had simple lines which showed off her fabulous tattoos. The dress was complemented by a bouquet of autumn-hued dried flowers. Thomas, dressed in a check tweed suit with earthy tones, looked equally dashing. They both looked a bit emotional on seeing each other at the top of the aisle and Thomas must have said something very funny as he got a big belly laugh from Haylie. As the ceremony proceeded their heartfelt vows resonated with emotions, and the presence of family and friends made the moments even more special.
Following the ceremony, guests enjoyed a fabulous reception in the courtyard, with seasonal canapés from the Hog and Apple. The cozy atmosphere invited laughter and celebration and everyone had a thoroughly great time! I took some time out with the couple to have a wander around the venue to get a few natural couple portraits. I have to say the light was just beautiful and in combination with the golden autumn colours, we had a stunning setting for the images along the road outside the barn and in the inner courtyard.
Soon it was time for the wedding breakfast and the guests made their way into the dining barn. Haylie and Thomas hid behind a corner and then made a fabulous entrance whilst guest cheered and clapped their arrival. They got straight in to the speeches which were all superb, both funny and heartfelt and thoroughly entertaining for the guests. After dinner the couple shared their first dance beneath a twinkling canopy of fairy lights, and surrounded by their family and friends. The celebration continued with music, dancing, and toasting to their new beginnings.
