I absolutely love being a Lake District wedding photographer and was so pleased to be back at the lovely Town Head Estate on the shores of Lake Windermere for another sunny wedding day, this time with Sally and Phil. I arrived to meet Sally and the girls in the bridal cottage getting ready. Everyone was in fantastic spirits and so happy that they were going to have a lovely sunny wedding day ahead. Meanwhile, Phil and the groomsmen were getting ready is a separate apartment on-site. The couple had their ceremony in the wedding barn, which is a lovely rustic room with stone walls and oak beams. I loved the tangerine colours of the girls dresses and the boys ties and the rustic wildflowers that all went so well with the barn environment. Sally looked amazing in her beautiful dress as she walked down the aisle with her Dad. The ceremony went without a hitch with lots of a smiles and a few happy tears and Sally and Phil walked out to much applause. They then made their way down to the conservatory where all the guests were waiting ready to bombard them with confetti.
I love the fact that the Townhead Estate has so many beautiful backdrops for photography. After the guests had congratulated the couple we took a stroll around the gardens and down to the lake for some couple photography. The gardens were in full bloom, with geraniums, lavender and daisies and the view down to the lake was stunning. The venue has a boathouse with its own short pier, which is great for fabulous views across Lake Windermere. Sally and Phil spent some moments together taking in the views whilst I captured some natural shots of them together.
Soon it was time to go back into the barn for the wedding breakfast. The couple had decorated their table with lovely colourful postcards from their travels and with rustic wild flowers with orange and red tones. As they entered the room they were greeted with an enthusiastic applause from their family and friends. You could just tell there was a lot of love in the room for this couple. They had not planned speeches but they started off with a few rounds of wedding bingo which was refereed by one of the bridesmaids and a groomsman. This went down a treat with the guests who absolutely loved it but they were quite suspicious of Phil winning a couple of times and protested (jokingly) that it of course must have been a set up! Everyone had an absolute blast with the bingo!
After dinner it was time for the evening receptions and the dancing. Sally and Phil had a lovely first dance and were then joined by the guests who hit the dance floor for some serious partying. At some point I slipped out with the couple for a quick jaunt back down to the lake to get a couple of sunset shots. We also took a few moments for a champagne pop photograph with the couple and the bridesmaids. This was a stunning Lake District wedding with a very lovely couple. Congratulations to Sally & Phil and all the best for your future together.
