We had a fantastic day for this fabulous wedding at Aldwark Manor in North Yorkshire. Sandra and Lee tied the knot at this stunning Manor House near York and we had glorious sunshine all day! This was another one of my favourite multicultural weddings with Lee and family coming from our very own fabulous Yorkshire and Sandra and family hailing from the beautiful city of Barcelona, many of the guests had made the trip over from Spain for the big day.
There is actually a lovely story attached to Sandra’s family making this trip. Sandra was particularly proud of her Dad flying over for the big day. He did his military service in Morocco in his twenties. He had to fly from Spain to Africa in very old fashioned military propeller planes, which provided some very rocky and unstable flight experiences. These events created such fear of flying at the young age of 23 that he never took another flight until the age of 74, when he flew to Leeds Bradford to attend this wedding and walk Sandra down the aisle. She felt so proud of her dad for facing one of his biggest fears! and you could just tell how happy he was to be there for Sandra on her wedding day.
The day went very smoothly. Lee actually got to see Sandra for the first time before the ceremony and looked so happy to see his beautiful bride. Sandra looked absolutely stunning in her Veromia wedding gown, a beautiful, very romantic, flowing, ruffled dress which suited her perfectly. There was some lovely readings during the ceremony and the couple walked out to much applause and throwing of confetti. The rest of the day was very relaxed. We made use of the stunning grounds around the venue for some portraits and group shots and then everyone sat down for dinner. I loved the Spanish tradition of everyone waving their napkins as the couple walked in to sit down! The speeches were in English and Spanish with translations on screen so everyone could understand. They were excellent and went down so well, both heartfelt and very amusing and had everyone in great spirits.
All in all it was a fabulous day, we left as the sun was going down and just after Lee had whisked his bride around the dance floor with a fabulous first dance. This wedding had a lovely atmosphere and a fabulous crowd. It was a pleasure to photograph this lovely wedding and meet the couple’s family and friends. I’d like to give my congratulations again to Sandra and Lee and wish you a very happy future life together.
