A stunning Priory Chapel Wedding
We had a change of scenery for this Nottinghamshire wedding at St Cuthbert’s Chapel in Worksop. Harriet and James had a fantastic day with their ceremony at this magnificent chapel followed by a marquee reception at Harriet’s family home nearby. The chapel was built in 1890 in the gothic revival style and is part of Worksop college where Harriet attended as a pupil and also as head girl, so she knows the building very well.
I arrived in the morning to Harriet’s family home where friends and family were very busy getting ready for the day and dressing the marquee in the garden. The many bridesmaids and Harriet were all in fine spirits and happy to be having such fabulous weather predicted for the whole day. After hair and makeup the girls made the short trip in the wedding car to the ceremony location. Meanwhile James had been at the chapel welcoming guests into the huge chapel interior and was waiting excitedly for his bride to be.
Harriet arrived in style with her Mum and brother in a classic wedding car and looked absolutely stunning walking down the chapel’s very long aisle on her brother’s arm. James looked so happy to see his bride to be. The ceremony went without a hitch with some lovely readings and the couple shared a few giggles during the hymns. As the ceremony came to a close Harriet and James walked out to much applause followed by an extremely long confetti line in the courtyard.
After lots of hugs and congratulations and a few group shots we took a short stroll around the college grounds with the couple for a few portraits before heading back to the house for the marquee reception. Whilst in the car waiting to head out, Harriet received one of her gifts; the Wedding Loo Paper, much to her absolute delight! I didn’t quite capture the significance of the loo roll but it was quite an amusing moment!

Back at the house everyone was having a fabulous time with drinks and canapés. Harriet’s Mum looked after us with lovely cups of tea and we enjoyed photographing the guests in the nice weather and lovely gardens.
The family had spent a long time dressing the marquee with some stunning flowers and the room looked fabulous. Soon the guests were all seated, the couple were announced in to much applause and the speeches got underway. There were quite a few speeches starting with the groom, then Harriets brothers, then the groomsmen and then the bridesmaids. They were all very funny and also moving and had the guests thoroughly entertained.
After dinner we had a rather entertaining cake cutting as James or Harriet managed to knock off the top their of the cake much to everyone entertainment. I’m not sure actually who did it but there was a very long sword involved! Finally it was time for the first dance. James and Harriet did a fabulous job of whisking each other around the dancefloor and soon all the guests joined them. We left whilst they were starting to bring out the very tasty espresso martini cocktails!
