Bowciffe Hall Wedding Photographer
I recently photographed this fabulous wedding at Bowcliffe Hall, a stunning grade II listed Georgian house located between Leeds and York. Laura and Chris got hitched at this amazing venue because they fell in love with the beautiful building and unusual grounds. The main house was built in the early 19th century and has the charm and atmosphere of a stately country house with opulent chandeliers, period windows and high ceilings. The grounds also include a very unusual building called the Blackburn Wing which is a modern day copper and glass tree house, shaped like an aeroplane wing and is a tribute to a Yorkshire aviation hero! This made a fabulous location for the evening celebrations. The couple had the venue to themselves for the day which provided an intimate and bespoke experience and the addition of a bouncy castle and numerous other lawn games provided for the many children that were attending the wedding. Mind you the adults certainly did also enjoy that bouncy castle!
Admittedly we didn’t have the best of weather but it was better than predicted and we managed to avoid the rain for most of the day. Laura and Chris live only ten minutes away from Bowcliffe in the lovely sleepy village of Clifford which is where I met Laura in the morning for the bridal preparations. I arrived to a house bustling with family and friends all getting ready for the big day. Everyone was in great spirits and Laura was particularly excited about the arrival of the silver Aston Martin which was also a surprise for her Dad, this being his dream car! Once the girls were ready they head off to the venue in the wedding car, the bridesmaids first and then Laura and her Dad.
The ceremony took place in the Bowcliffe room in the main house and Laura looked absolutely stunning walking down the aisle with her Dad in her Pronovias wedding gown. Chris looked very happy to see his bride to be. The ceremony went without a hitch with some lovely readings and the couple walked out to much applause followed by a shower of confetti. Fortunately the weather held for some group shots outside and lots of fun on the bouncy castle. We then made use of the lovely formal gardens to take some couple shots around the venue before moving back in to the house to the ball room for the wedding breakfast and speeches. Finally, after dinner, everyone made their way down to the Blackburn Wing for the evening celebrations. After the first dance everyone piled onto the dance floor for some serious dance moves underneath the funky striped coloured lighting of the aeroplane interior!
Laura and Chris told me afterwards that they were absolutely thrilled with their day and were amazed how everything went so totally smoothly. I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this fabulous wedding at such a lovely venue. A huge congratulations to Laura and Chris and all the best for your future lives together.
