This recent wedding in Whitby and Robin Hood’s Bay was an amazing day! I do love a multicultural wedding, stunning views, a gorgeous couple and a Tipi so this was a photographers dream wedding! Rachael’s family hailed from the beautiful countryside close to Whitby and TJ’s family from Nashville in the USA and it was such a great crowd ! We started off at Rachael’s family home where I arrived to meet a very busy and friendly household full of laughter and activity. Once the family and bridesmaids were ready we took advantage of the beautiful gardens around the house to take a few photos. I also checked out the setting up of the Tipi also in the garden overlooking Whitby Bay. The setting was stunning with an amazing view and you couldn’t want a better location for a reception. The interior of the Tipi was also decorated by the family and looked absolutely gorgeous along with some of the nicest flowers I have ever seen at a wedding.
Soon everyone was ready and we set off in the cars to St Stephen’s church in Robin Hood’s Bay where TJ was waiting for his bride to be. Rachael looked absolutely stunning in her Madison James dress as she walked down the aisle with her Dad. TJ at the front was absolutely beaming! I must say I loved this ceremony, there was so much love in the air, smiles and laughter, you can tell that Rachael and TJ really are made for each other and have a wonderful connection. There were some lovely readings and the couple walked down the aisle and out of the church to much applause, followed by some very energetic throwing of confetti!
After a few group shots outside the church everyone headed back up to the house for the Tipi reception whilst we followed Rachael and TJ to some local beauty spots for some couple photos. Rachael grew up in the area so knew some of the best locations for great views. We were so lucky with the weather which stayed nice all day but in particular made the views absolutely stunning and we could see for miles along the coast.
Soon we arrived back at the house to meet the family and friends and then sit down for a lovely hog roast dinner. The speeches were brilliant and went down so well, both heartfelt and very amusing and had everyone in great spirits. Finally it was time for the first dance and I have to say I was very impressed with Rachael and TJ, they really knew how to rock that dance floor, and in addition, many of the guests were amazing up there! you could tell there were quite a few people who knew a dance or two!
This was such a wonderful wedding with a great atmosphere. I was actually quite sad to leave. I fancied dancing the night away but had to head back to Leeds. It was an absolute pleasure to photograph such a lovely day for such a lovely couple. Rachael and TJ were great fun and just so nice to work with, they made my job very enjoyable. A huge congratulations to the couple and all the best for your future lives together.
