We had a fabulous sunny day for some Wood Hall Hotel wedding photography with super fun and relaxed couple Becky and Grant. The day started with a trip to Gloss Hairdressing in Knaresborough where all the girls were excitedly getting ready and sipping champagne. This is a lovely big salon and a great place to photograph the preparations. Whilst there I heard the ongoing story about the big wind up with Grant, the groom.
Bridal Preparations in Knaresborough
Apparently Sarah, Becky’s sister, and Grant are terrible at winding each other up and Sarah kept accidentally on purpose letting it slip that Becky was going to be wearing a pink wedding dress. He wasn’t having it at first but all the girls went along with it, even the bridesmaids were in on the act ! So he sent Becky a card of a pink wedding dress. He kept looking for the pink in the dress all through the ceremony and it was the first thing he asked Becky when they left the church. He is now planning revenge on Sarah, but I hear she always wins!
Once hair and makeup was done we were back to Becky’s parents house in Harrogate to get into those fabulous dresses. The bridesmaids looked gorgeous in navy blue and Becky looked absolutely stunning in her Art Couture dress from Treasured Brides, and not a hint of pink in sight! Meanwhile, Grant and his groomsmen were on route to the church in Harrogate to await the bridal party and have a couple of pints at the local pub.
Wedding Ceremony at Christ Church in Harrogate
Becky and her Dad travelled to the church in style in a white Jaguar Mk 2 which had come all the way down from Durham. The ceremony went without a hitch and the couple walked out to much applause followed by a shower of confetti. On route to the Wood Hall Hotel I followed behind the Jaguar in my humble Honda. What we didn’t realise was how long it was going to take us! We got stuck behind a giant combine harvester, I mean this green monster completely filled the road and moved at a snails pace! At first I though it will just turn off soon, but at every turn we were still following it. In fact we followed it all the way to Wood Hall where it finally turned off about 100 yards from the venue with a huge convoy of wedding cars left behind it! Everyone took it in their stride though and we still had plenty of time to stop at the top of the Wood Hall lane to get some couple shots. Wood Hall Hotel is a fabulous Yorkshire wedding venue set in some gorgeous landscape.
The rest of the day went really well with fantastic weather and a lovely atmosphere. The speeches were excellent, both moving and very funny, and finally the couple and the guests hit the dance floor. We even got time to take Becky and Grant out in the lovely evening light for some final portraits. I love an adventurous bride and was particularly impressed that Becky got on top of a very high and precarious tree stump in her 5 inch heels!
Thank you Becky and Grant for choosing me as your Wood Hall Wedding Photographer in Harrogate. It was a pleasure to photograph this stunning wedding and I hope you are having an amazing time on your honeymoon in the USA. All the best for your future together.
