I’m so pleased to be a recommended Hazlewood Castle wedding photographer and it was fabulous to be back at this venue to cover another wedding , this time in the woodland setting.

Jane and Ady’s bohemian-style wedding at Hazlewood Castle in Yorkshire was a celebration of love, nature, and free-spirited elegance. The historic castle, with its enchanting woodland surroundings provided the perfect backdrop for their unique and intimate ceremony. The day began with an excited sense of anticipation as guests arrived at Hazlewood Castle. I met Jane and her daughter and Mum in one of the castle rooms where they were getting ready for the big day. They were all in great spirits and excited for the day ahead.

The couple chose the woodland setting within the castle’s expansive gardens, because of their love of nature and they really wanted to have an outdoor ceremony. Decorated with wildflowers, greenery, and dreamcatchers, the ceremony pagoda blended seamlessly with the natural surroundings, creating a whimsical and romantic atmosphere. Jayne arrived to the woodland site in her brother’s very cute navy blue Morris Minor and entered the aisle with her Dad. She was dressed in a flowing, ethereal gown adorned with delicate lace and floral accents, embodying the true essence of bohemian chic. Ady, looking dapper yet relaxed in his grey suit with lime green tie, waited eagerly for his bride beneath the pagoda.

The ceremony was heartfelt and personal, with the sounds of birdsong and rustling leaves providing a natural soundtrack. The couple exchanged vows that they had written themselves, filled with promises of love, adventure, and mutual respect. The intimate gathering of family and friends sat among the trees, witnessing the union of two souls in a setting that felt both sacred and magical. Afterward they walked out through a tunnel of confetti as everyone congratulated them with much applause.

After the couple has spent some time with their guests I took a walk with them around the woodland area for some couple photographs. We had perfect weather for the day with the sun shining through the leaves and with twinkling fairy lights strung across woodland pathways. The woodland wedding site is nestled between some stunning giant sequoia trees and Jayne and Ady stopped at one point for a bit of tree hugging, they are true nature lovers!

Following the ceremony, the celebration moved to a beautifully adorned tipi set up within the woodland. The tipi, with its rustic wooden beams and twinkling fairy lights, exuded warmth and charm. Inside, the tables were decorated with candles and vases filled with an abundance of wildflowers. There were also lots of lovely rustic vintage signs and hints to their love of nature and trees with little seed packets on the tables for the guests. The atmosphere was relaxed and inviting, encouraging guests to mingle, laugh, and share in the joy of the day.

The reception was a lively and joyous affair, filled with music, dancing, and heartfelt toasts. The speeches were both funny and moving and received much applause from the guests. A folk singer which was a surprise for the couple sang some fun songs with a banjo, adding to the bohemian vibe. After dinner, the couple enjoyed cutting their cake with an extremely large sword before kicking off the dancing with a fabulous first dance.

As night fell, the tipi glowed softly under the starlit sky, and the fire pits was lit nearby. Guests gathered around the fire, sharing stories, roasting marshmallows, and enjoying the tranquil beauty of their surroundings. The combination of nature, love, and the bohemian spirit made Jane and Ady’s wedding day an unforgettable experience. It was a celebration that truly reflected their personalities and was an absolute joy to photograph.
