I absolutely love being a Middleton Lodge wedding photographer. It is a stunning Georgian country mansion and one of my favourite wedding venues in Yorkshire. The Middleton Lodge Estate is just outside the village of Middleton Tyas and near to the town of Richmond on the edge of the Yorkshire Dales. It is set amongst beautiful courtyards and gardens and has a rustic-chic style with exposed brickwork and wooden beams in the bedrooms. It is really a beautiful setting with woodland walks right on the doorstep.

The Middleton Lodge Main House is the Coach house which has lots of comfy rooms and a lovely restaurant, the rest of the rooms are dotted around the estate in the farmhouse, potting shed and the dairy. Weddings can be set in the main house or in the walled gardens which includes the Fig house.

Wedding Photography at Middleton Lodge

If you are looking for an experienced Middleton Lodge wedding photographer I’d love to hear about your wedding day plans and see if I could be the photographer for you. Two of my favourite days from this venue are Becky and Mike’s and Immy and Matt’s Weddings. Both couples spent their whole day at the beautiful Fig House. You can see a selection of images from their weddings below;

Wedding Preparations at Middleton Lodge

The Fig House at Middleton Lodge is a fabulous place to get ready in the morning. The bridal suite is a lovely light space with its own patio door leading out onto the beautiful Fig House gardens. The bride tribe can have a relaxed time here in the morning, preparing for the day ahead and maybe having a glass of Prosecco to calm the nerves!

Walking the Garden Wedding Aisle

Walking the aisle has never been so special as walking down the winding path through the beautiful Fig House gardens. If you are lucky enough to have a sunny summer day you will make this lovely entrance through colourful flowers and lush green foliage. A perfect start to an English country garden ceremony!

Middleton Lodge Wedding Ceremony

The wedding ceremonies at the Fig House are set outside on the courtyard if the weather is nice. It is a beautiful location with the rustic Fig House building on one side and the gardens on the other. The couple hold hands and say their vows with the sun shining and the flowers in full bloom. Both of these ceremonies went without a hitch with plenty of love and support from family and friends.

Confetti

After the ceremony couples will usually go back into the Fig House barn to sign their register. They will then emerge into a tunnel of guests eagerly waiting to bombard them with confetti. This is one of my favourite parts of the day and is really enjoyed by both the couple and their friends and family. From a photography point of view, I particularly love it when that one guest steps into the confetti aisle to lob a great handful in the bride and groom’s faces. There is alway one! and it is always received with much laughter!

Middleton Lodge Wedding Photos

Middleton Lodge is one of my favourite venues for couple photos. The extensive and varied colourful gardens provide a fantastic backdrop for the images. Lovely winding pathways and arched doorways in the garden walls also provide some great photography opportunities. If the bride and groom choose to have a few couple portraits we usually spend 20-30 mins wandering around the grounds. My aim is always to capture them naturally on camera so I encourage them to walk and talk together, share some jokes and just relax and be themselves. We were blessed with beautiful colour and light on both of these wedding days, which allowed for a limitless number of photography options.

Wedding Speeches at Middleton Lodge

I love to photograph a grand entrance and there is always an opportunity for one of these at Middleton Lodge. The couple’s walk into the Fig House from the courtyard to much applause from their family and friends. They sit down to a fabulous feast at long wooden rustic tables adorned with flowers and foliage. The speeches always go down a treat here and are lovely to photograph in this beautiful light airy space.

Evening Festivities

The evening festivities can take place at either of the two large rooms in the Fig House. Both Immy and Matt and Becky and Mike had fabulous first dances that went down a treat with their family and friends. Afterwards guests joined them on the dance floor to rock the night away.

Natural wedding Photography at Middleton Lodge

My photography approach to the day is very natural and most of the day is covered in a documentary style. I’m not interested in posing people and I’m not going to ask for fake grins. Every wedding day is unique and I’m always looking to capture the unique character of your day in my images. I will be photographing the personalities, emotions, fun and laughter and happy tears on the day and all those details that you spent ages putting together.

I’m also conscious that you don’t want to spend too long away from your guests. I make sure that any group photographs and couple portraits that you might want are done quickly and efficiently so you can get back to your guests and those all-important canapés. Please see more information on my approach here.

I want you to have a totally stress free day and feel completely comfortable in front of the camera. My caring and relaxed approach to the photography is one of the reasons why many couples recommend me.

Below is one of my favourite photographs taken at Middleton Lodge. Three generations together listening to the groom’s speech. Immy, her mother and baby daughter all reacting at the same time.
