The Yorkshire Dales as a wedding location
I absolutely love being a Yorkshire Dales wedding photographer. The dramatic, sweeping Yorkshire landscape is one of my favourite places to capture weddings. There are plenty of fabulous wedding venues in the Yorkshire Dales so there is something for everyone. Whether you are looking for a luxury hotel wedding, a rustic barn wedding or just a dramatic location to place a marquee or a tipi, there is the perfect location for any couple’s dream wedding day! I particularly love wedding venues with dramatic views and the wedding I captured below promised exactly that with sweeping views of the Yorkshire landscape right from the front door!
Natural Retreats, Aislabeck Plantation Wedding
This time I took a trip high up into the Yorkshire Dales near Richmond for a wedding with stunning scenery across the Swaledale valley. Kirsty and Alex got married at Natural Retreats, Aislabeck Plantation. This is a wedding venue with a difference, consisting of ceremony and reception rooms and a series of luxury lodges. We were lucky to have fantastic weather, although it started a bit cloudy, the sun did come out for most of the day and the blustery wind only added to the drama of the high moorland location.
Yorkshire Dales Wedding Ceremony
Kirsty and Alex are currently living in Vancouver, Canada but have travelled back to their roots in Yorkshire for their wedding. I met Kirsty and the bridesmaids in one of the luxury log cabins, busy getting ready with hair and makeup. Once the girls were ready we headed off to the wedding ceremony location to meet the boys and the guests arriving. The ceremony took place in a lovely room filled with natural light and as Kirsty walked down the aisle with her dad she looked absolutely stunning in her Suzanne Neville pure white wedding dress. The ceremony was moving and emotional, with smiles and a few tears and Alex’s mum did a lovely reading. Kirsty and Alex walked back down the aisle to much applause followed by some serious confetti throwing!
Yorkshire Wedding Photography
For the couple portraits we decide to explore the area a little but didn’t have to go far before we found sweeping views of buttercup filled moorland. We also headed over to a high very windy location where there was a old stone circle and stunning views over the Swaledale valley. The wind blown wedding dress made for dramatic bride in the landscape images!
The day continued with the wedding breakfast and a set of excellent speeches which were both funny and moving and thoroughly enjoyed by the guests. This was followed by an impressive first dance and I left after grabbing a few shots of the guests on the dance floor.
I thoroughly enjoyed photographing this couples’ Yorkshire Dales wedding. A fun filled day with elegance and rustic countryside charm. The guests and staff were all extremely friendly and the day had a lovely atmosphere. Thank you so much to Kirsty and Alex for choosing me to be your Yorkshire Dales wedding photographer.
