Choosing a venue here means embracing authenticity. It’s about saying goodbye to generic, staged settings and hello to a location that’s as unique as your love story. Each venue in the Yorkshire Dales has its own character. From rustic barns to grand manor houses, there’s a venue to suit every couple’s style. So, let’s dive in and explore what you might want to consider when choosing your venue.
1. Venue Style & Atmosphere
Consider the overall feel you want for your wedding. Do you picture a lavish affair in a historic castle, a relaxed barn wedding, or a small, intimate gathering in a countryside inn? Yorkshire Dales wedding venues range from elegant manor houses to charming farms, so defining your vision early on will help narrow down options.
2. Location
Choose a venue that is easily accessible for most guests.. Ensure there’s adequate parking or transport arrangements.
3. Capacity & Guest Experience
Ensure the venue accommodates your guest list comfortably. A grand castle might be perfect for a large wedding, while a boutique venue is better suited for an intimate celebration. Think about your guests’ experience as well—easy access, accommodation options, and amenities are all important factors.
4. Scenic Locations & Photography Opportunities
The Yorkshire Dales is renowned for its stunning scenery. If you want breathtaking wedding photos, look for a venue with beautiful gardens, rivers, or dramatic landscapes. As a photographer I absolutely love to photograph my couples in the stunning landscapes of the Yorkshire Dales. I’m happy to follow you up a mountain if you’d like some photographs with a view!
5. Exclusive Use & Accommodation
Many couples prefer venues that offer exclusive use, ensuring privacy for their special day. Also, consider whether the venue provides on-site accommodation for you and your guests or has nearby lodging options.
6. Services & Amenities
Does the venue provide tables, chairs, linens, and decor? Is there an in-house catering service, or can you bring your own? Are there getting-ready rooms for the bride and groom? You may want to ask about bar service and if you can provide your own alcohol.

There are several castles in the Yorkshire Dales and surrounding regions. For couples dreaming of a fairytale wedding, Allerton Castle is a fantastic choice. If you are wanting even more history you could not get better than the impressive Bolton Castle near Leyburn. This striking medieval Castle, is one of the best-preserved medieval castles in England. It is an extraordinary wedding venue that blends history, romance, and breathtaking scenery. Built in the 14th century, it is a well-preserved medieval fortress offering an awe-inspiring backdrop for couples seeking a wedding steeped in heritage. The combination of the castle’s medieval architecture with the stunning landscapes makes for unforgettable wedding photography opportunities.
Rustic Barn Venues
Barn weddings in the Yorkshire Dales are more than just a trend. They’re a testament to the timeless appeal of rustic charm combined with modern elegance. These venues offer a unique blend of history and nature. The old stone barns, set against the backdrop of rolling hills and open skies, create a setting that’s both romantic and relaxed. However, it’s not just about the setting. Barn weddings also offer a sense of intimacy that’s hard to replicate in more traditional venues. The wooden beams, the open spaces, the soft glow of fairy lights – it all adds up to create a warm and inviting atmosphere. If you are dreaming of a wedding that’s authentic, personal, and a little bit different, a barn wedding in the Yorkshire Dales could be just what you’re looking for, see some examples below:
Set within the iconic Bolton Abbey estate, Tithe Barn is one of the most sought-after barn wedding venues in Yorkshire. It offers a stunning rustic charm with exposed beams, high ceilings, and panoramic views of the surrounding countryside. The venue is perfect for couples looking for a relaxed yet stylish setting. Also, located near Richmond, the Yorkshire Wedding Barn is great for couples who want a mix of indoor and outdoor celebrations. This venue offers a stylish, modern barn alongside stunning lakeside views, making it a fantastic option for nature-loving couples. Thirsk Lodge Barns is another fabulous barn venue set in some beautiful countryside.
Intimate wedding Venues
if you are looking for a small wedding venue in the Yorkshire Dales then The Priests House at Barden Tower is a wonderful choice. This charming medieval venue offers a cozy atmosphere with candlelit interiors and stunning views of the Wharfedale valley. It’s perfect for couples who want a historic yet intimate celebration. There are also small, intimate venues dotted around the Yorkshire Dales including Yorebridge House, a boutique Grade II listed hotel with elegant interiors and fine dining. You could also consider Telfit Farm, a renovated farmhouse set in the rolling hills of Swaledale. They cater for just 50 guests so it is perfect for small wedding parties. The Yorke Arms is a luxurious 18th-century coaching inn offering weddings for around 30 people. With picturesque views of Nidderdale, fresh Yorkshire air, and a babbling brook at the end of the courtyard, you may find yourself in an idyllic haven.
Glamping, cabins, Yurts and Marquee sites
Little Seed Farm in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales is a venue that has nature at its heart. They have a beautiful wedding barn for blessings and ceremonies and wild field and woodland areas for marquees and tipis. You can also use the luxury on-site log cabins and clamping pods for your special day. A stunning place where romance meets sweeping Yorkshire landscapes. Also Yorkshire Yurts have a fabulous spot at Eavestone Lake near Ripon in the Nidderdale Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty. This is a Yurt venue with luxury clamping accommodation, immersed in a beautiful woodland. They provide all the necessities to give you the perfect blank canvas for you to decorate as you wish. The yurt comes complete with luxury mobile toilets, catering tent, staging, dance floor and dining furniture, leaving you free to choose your own band or DJ, food, entertainment and styling etc. Camp Katur is another luxury glamping site in the heart of nature. They have a selection of ensuite geodomes & wooden cabins with beautiful views of the surrounding woodland. They offer natural, romantic woodland weddings in their licensed woodland chapel. They are also at the gateway to a dark skies reserve. If you’d like a remote wedding, deeply immersed in nature and tranquility, this is the venue for you.
Cosy Pubs
If you have a small wedding party and fancy a really cosy day surrounded by stunning Yorkshire moorland you could check out the Timble Inn. They can accommodate up to 40 guests and have a lovely onsite chapel and fabulous food! There is also the Tempest Arms near Skipton, the Tan Hill Inn near Richmond, The Gamekeepers Inn close to Grassington and the Red Lion at Burnsall.
Romantic Houses, Halls and Walled Gardens
One of my favourite wedding venues in Yorkshire is Middleton Lodge. It is a beautifully restored 18th-century Georgian mansion and walled garden situated near to Richmond. With grand reception rooms, sweeping staircases, and period features, it provides a classic and romantic setting for an intimate wedding. The Fig House, also on the estate, is set within a private garden bursting with seasonal flowers and lush greenery. This light-filled space is effortlessly stylish, with exposed brick walls, large windows, and rustic beams. It’s ideal for couples wanting a relaxed yet elegant wedding with a botanical feel.
Yorebridge House mentioned earlier offers luxury country weddings and Markenfield Hall is a 14th century Manor House offering a very unique experience. You could also have a look at Underlay Grange, on the west edge of the Yorkshire Dales. This is a lovely small manor house that offers custom tailored packages for weddings. I’d also highly recommend Broughton Sanctuary. The Estate is in a stunning, secluded country setting near to Skipton at the edge of the Dales. There are many options for weddings including Broughton Hall itself, a grand country cottage called Eden, a beautiful onside chapel and Utopia which is a modern onsite venue set within a walled garden. They also offer marquee and tipi weddings and can accommodate large numbers of guests.
