We had an amazing day for this stunning wedding at Wharfedale Grange in Harewood. Located between Leeds and Harrogate this is a romantic, luxury barn venue surrounded by sweeping views. The interiors were very sumptuous, filled with chandeliers, fairy lights and velvet furnishings, it was a lovely venue to photograph. This was a multicultural wedding. Both Amy and Loz live in Leeds and Amy’s family hail from Yorkshire whilst Loz’s family travelled all the way over from Chile. The couple first met working in the Clocktower restaurant at Rudding Park hotel so that is where they choose to stay for their wedding night. Also Loz and his groomsmen got ready at Rudding Park and then travelled the short distance to Wharfedale for the ceremony.
I arrived to Wharfedale to meet Amy and the girls getting ready. They were all in great spirits and enjoying a fabulous breakfast from Filmore and Union provided as a surprise treat by Loz. Soon Amy was ready to go. She told me that her Dad was a tough ex-police sergant and would not get emotional but he absolutely did cry on seeing Amy in her dress for the first time!
The ceremony went without a hitch and Amy looked absolutely stunning walking down the aisle in her Enzoani dress with her Dad. There was a funny moment because Loz’s 18 month old nephew was their ring bearer and nearly dropped the rings and shouted ‘no no no’ during the ceremony when the registrar asked if there was any reason the couple should not be married, all whilst looking adorable!
We had super weather all day so we were able to get some great confetti photos and the guests were able to mull about on the outside patio for drinks and canapés. I then whisked Amy and Loz off for a short while to get a few portraits around the venue utilising the stunning gardens and interiors. Then we were back inside for the wedding breakfast and speeches.
The couple were announced in through the huge barn doors and walked to their seats with the guests cheering them on. The speeches went very well and were both very heartfelt and amusing. Loz’s best men gave the rude parts of their speech in Spanish so that Amy’s family didn’t understand, but that was the only part of their speech that the Chilean relatives understood and had them all in stitches. They also had a special toast in Spanish for the Chilean guests. Afterwards they enjoyed a lovely dinner supplied by The Hog and Apple and Loz’s father kindly supplied all of the wedding wine from a vineyard in his home country of Chile.
Finally it was time for the first dance. Loz’s sister-in-law Azzurra is a professional dancer and choregraphed the couple’s first dance. Amy and Loz said they were both terrible dancers but Loz did a fabulous job of whisking Amy around the dance floor!
All in all this was a fabulous wedding day. With great weather, a stunning venue and a lovely group of family and friends. The whole day had a fabulous atmosphere and it was a pleasure to photograph.
